Anna Palmer – Technician
About Anna
I began making pottery when I was 12 years old. In 2018, with a local ceramicist. I was instantly devoted to growing my skills, and after a few years of lessons, practice and confidence, I was able to get my own wheel in our small garden shed. This soon became a cosy studio during lockdown whilst I was in secondary school. Without the use of a kiln, I practised throwing repeatedly, with plenty of mistakes, until I finally became confident that I knew how to work with clay.
After secondary school, I went on to study Art & Photography at Cirencester College. On leaving, after I gained my qualifications, I applied for the job of Technician at Stroud Pottery and was accepted, an opportunity which I am eternally grateful for. I have been working as the main technician for more than a year now and continue to learn more about ceramics each day. This job has given me the extra push in becoming an independent maker, with my own studio, kiln and a range of work that I sell locally. On my days off, you will find me in my studio working on my own pieces.
