About Chiara

With Italian and Chinese heritage, my work draws on a range of ceramic traditions and philosophies, particularly the simplicity of Song Dynasty porcelain and the beauty of natural materials and processes.

I am interested in the balance between precision and spontaneity, creating forms that range from quiet and refined to unpredictable, altered pieces.

After training in Italy, I returned to the UK to continue my development as a production potter in Oxfordshire. I now live and work in Stroud, where I teach pottery and make functional ceramics for everyday use.

I particularly enjoy the challenge of throwing porcelain and the delicacy and translucency it brings to finished work. Alongside this, I have begun researching local clays, rocks, and ash as sources for glazes and clay bodies. This is still a new direction in my practice, and one that continues to evolve through experimentation and material testing.

Above all, I am drawn to the utilitarian beauty of functional pottery - objects that are simple, useful, and bring joy to the everyday.
